Google Messages has expanded its capabilities globally with the international rollout of an AI-powered feature dubbed Magic Compose.
Having been unveiled this past May, Magic Compose is a nifty tool integrated directly into the Google Messages app. It has the ability to create messages based on a user’s previous twenty interactions, thus offering a tailored and streamlined messaging experience.
Magic Compose: Enhancing Shortcuts and Responses
Not only does Magic Compose write messages, it also extends its functionality into shortcuts located beneath the text input field. Adding an ingenious twist to its application, the AI can suggest multiple responses to a user’s latest message, drawing insights from the last twenty messages sent.
What’s more, users are granted the liberty to modify their responses with several styles such as remix, excited, quiet, Shakespearean, lyrical, formal, and succinct. This diverse array of styles allows individuals to communicate their thoughts and feelings more accurately and interestingly.
Google’s Assurance on Privacy and Data Protection
Committed to privacy, Google has reassured users that the tech giant is not privy to messages containing attachments, voice clips, or images. These elements are not sent to Google servers. However, image captions and voice transcriptions may be shared, but they are subsequently deleted and not harnessed for enhancing AI learning.
Global Rollout: A Graduated Approach
Although Magic Compose is now available globally, it was initially confined to the US. The feature’s rollout seems to be a staggered process, with Google One Premium members participating in Google Messages beta testing program receiving early access. The availability of Magic Compose in France remains uncertain and is still awaiting confirmation.
