Unveiled: Realme’s New Devices Dare to Challenge iPhone and Samsung

Chinese tech giant, Realme, is stepping up its game with the release of two new smartphones, the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro+. Echoing their efforts to combine quality, design and affordability, these devices are as much about performance as they are about style.

Design and Build

For these latest offerings, Realme partnered with French jeweler Ollivier Savéo, drawing inspiration from Swiss watch designs for the photo block. The result is a soft vegan leather coating that not only gives a premium feel but also enhances grip. These devices are also designed with IP65 water and dust resistance, ensuring durability.

Camera Features

The Realme 12 Pro houses a IMX882 50 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32 MP telephoto lens with x2 optical zoom. With a slightly advanced setup, the Realme 12 Pro+ is fitted with a Sony IMX890 50 MP main sensor, the same ultra-wide lens, and an Omnivision OV64B periscopic sensor – a feature normally found in high-end smartphones. This periscopic sensor provides x3 optical zoom and total x6 digital zoom. Realme even dares to compare the photo capabilities of the 12 Pro+ to the 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Power and Performance

Both smartphones are powered by mid-range processors, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 for the Realme 12 Pro+ and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 for the Realme 12 Pro. Standard for the pair is 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.

Display and Software

Equipped with a 6.7 inch curved OLED screen, both phones offer a 120 Hz refresh rate, Full HD+ resolution, 950 nits maximum brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. They run on Android 14 with Realme's UI 5.0, providing an ultra-smooth . With a 5,000 mAh battery complimented by 67 W SUPERVOOC charging, these devices assure long-lasting performance and rapid recharging.

Pricing and Availability

The Realme 12 Pro is available on at 399.99 euros in both Navigator Beige and Submarine Blue. The Realme 12 Pro+ comes with a slightly higher price tag of 499.99 euros for the smallest configuration, also available in beige and blue.
